Volunteer Scholarship

Purpose: To provide financial aid to any approved and active college student volunteer with the Southwest Virginia Medical Reserve Corps

Student Volunteer Scholarship


  •  An approved Southwest Virginia MRC volunteer in good standing

  • Has provided 5 hours of volunteer service in the past 12 months from the date of the application

  • Has been accepted, and will provide proof of such acceptance, at a community college, 4-year college or post-graduate education

  • Confirmed GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • If selected for a scholarship, the volunteer student agrees to remain active with a Medical Reserve Corps Unit, even if in another state.

  • Student volunteer intends to continue their education in a health-related field (including but not limited to: primary, mental, public or emergency medicine, veterinarian sciences, etc.)

  • On-line applications will be accepted from March 1st through April 15th . Scholarship award(s) will be announced no later than May 15th.

Scholarship decisions will be made by the Board of Directors of Friends of Southwest Virginia Medical Reserve Corps, a non-profit organization (ein:84-2672896)
